Our Story: Bringing Bonchon’s Brand of Healthy and Delicious Comfort Food To The World!
Walk down any neighborhood in Korea and you’ll find a mom-and-pop fried chicken joint on almost every block. With years of hands-on experience with Korean cuisine, founder Jinduk Seh, decided to focus on perfecting a recipe for fried chicken, and share one of his country’s favorite comfort foods with the world. The result was Bonchon, which suitingly means “my hometown” in Korean.
Our very first Bonchon Chicken restaurant opened in 2002 in Busan, Korea, before spreading its wings to other parts of Seoul. With our first overseas location in Leonia and spreading to other cities in San Francisco, New York, Manila, Bangkok and more, Bonchon finally hits Singapore with its first restaurant opened in 2011.
Forget the oily and salty fried chicken that made you guilty! The Bonchon Fried Chicken recipe breaks the boundary of oily and fattening meat you get from traditional fried chicken. At Bonchon, we prepared our food with our customers’ health and taste in mind, using only fresh ingredients and zero trans-fat meat. Our unique double-frying and tossing preparation method brings you the extra crispy and tasty fried chicken that even our halmoni (grandma) and halapoji (grandpa) will love!
Why Franchise with Bonchon?
Unique Menu Offering
Bonchon harmonizes the fried chicken and beer experience together with a delectable selection of Asian fusion cuisine. Bonchon’s main product, fried chicken, is made to order using the unique double-frying method perfected by our founder Jinduk Seh. Because many have cited a frequent craving for our chicken, our customers have dubbed it “Because it’s not just fried chicken, it’s Bonchon!”
Our featured menu consists of a variety of fusion Korean and Asian dishes, such as Bibimbap, Japchae and Tteokbokki. We also have an American inspired line featuring Bonchon sliders, tacos, wraps and seasoned french fries.
Flexibility
In addition to excellent food, Bonchon offers a variety of dining experiences. Our franchisees are offered a variety of revenue streams, having the flexibility to choose between three different concepts for their restaurant: sports bar, traditional sit-down or quick service. For the ultimate convenience, some restaurants also offer take-out and delivery services.
- Sports bar: Restaurants offer a full bar and televisions for broadcasting games
- Traditional sit-down: Restaurants provide a friendly, casual dining experience perfect for gathering with family or friends
- Quick service: Restaurants serve Bonchon to customers looking for express-style dining
Hands-on Support
Bonchon franchisees benefit through training programs, including a four-week initial training at our headquarters in New York City and an intensive 5 days on-site training during the store opening. Additionally, our franchisees receive support for ongoing operations, quality assurance, public relations and marketing.
Global Recognition
Bonchon’s brand extends to Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines, where each global operation caters to a local market. Despite the differentiation strategy per market, we work hard to ensure the uniformity and quality when it comes to our chicken products: all our sauces are made at the same factory in South Korea. In result, every customer experiences the same authentic taste around the globe, no matter where they are.
